Every extra second of load time bleeds visitors — most people bail within a few seconds, and Google notices exactly the same thing they do. Slow isn't a cosmetic problem; it's a leak in the pipe that everything else pours through.
Nearly always the same suspects. Giant images uploaded straight off a phone — a 5MB photo where a 150KB one would look identical. Page-builder bloat: drag-and-drop platforms stack invisible code, and every plugin adds weight whether you use it or not. Cheap shared hosting that naps until someone visits. Scripts loading before content — chat widgets, trackers and fonts elbowing ahead of the thing people came to see. None of this shows in a design mockup, which is why so many good-looking sites test terribly.
Three compounding taxes. Visitors leave before the page paints — ad money spent delivering people to a door that opens slowly. Google demotes slow mobile pages, so you rank below faster competitors regardless of content. And the visitors who stay arrive irritated, which is a bad opening for a sales conversation.
Compress and resize every image. Cut plugins you don't use. Upgrade hosting if it's the bottleneck. Load scripts after content. Or skip the archaeology: my builds are hand-coded without builder bloat, which is why they load near-instantly — and it's a big part of why they rank.
