Site of the Month #004: The Mechanic Google Can't Find
This month: an auto repair shop — composite of three real shops, same patterns on all three. Great mechanics, invisible websites. Here's the teardown.
What it does right
Decades in business, real certifications, and reviews that mention mechanics by name. The trust exists — the website just files it in a drawer.
Leak #1: one paragraph for twelve services
Brakes, transmission, diagnostics, alignment — one wall of text. Nobody searches "auto repair paragraph"; they search "brake repair near me." One page per money service is how shops get found — it's the same play from the 2026 local playbook.
Leak #2: the certifications in the footer
ASE badges, dealer-level equipment, warranties — all in 10px gray at the bottom. Trust decides repair shops. Fix: badges beside the phone number, warranty in the hero, mechanic names with faces.
Leak #3: no appointment path
"Call during business hours" — while your customer's car is dead in a driveway at 9pm. Fix: a request form with vehicle info, promising a morning callback. Captures the panic hours; costs nothing.
The scoreboard
Service pages first (that's findability), trust placement second, night capture third. Shop owners: your numbers are in the auto repair cost guide. Nominate any site for next month: (847) 387-0244.
