Bad web projects don't fail at the end — they fail at the handshake. These ten questions surface the problems before you've paid for them.
1. Who actually does the work? If your contact isn't the builder, you're paying a markup for a messenger. 2. Will I own everything? Domain, hosting, code, content — in your name, full stop. Some shops hold domains hostage; it's the industry's dirtiest trick. 3. Is this a template? Templates aren't evil, but paying custom prices for one is. 4. What does "done" include? SEO basics, mobile testing, analytics — in writing. 5. What happens after launch? Updates, security, edits: whose job, at what price? 6. Can I see live sites, not mockups? Anyone can polish a screenshot; real businesses running real builds are the proof. 7. How fast will it load on a phone? If they can't answer in seconds, they don't measure it. 8. What's the timeline, and what's my part? Most delays are content delays — a pro plans for that. 9. What if I hate the first draft? Revision terms, in advance. 10. Why this price? A real builder can walk you through where every dollar goes.
Direct, specific, unbothered. Vague answers to plain questions are the whole red flag. My answers to all ten are on this site — the process, the pricing logic, the live work — and the rest are one call away: (847) 387-0244.
