Local SEO isn't a mystery — it's a checklist most businesses never finish. Here's the version I run for clients, in the order that moves the needle fastest.
When someone searches "electrician near me," the three businesses in the map box get most of the clicks. That box is powered by your Google Business Profile: claim it, pick precise categories, add real photos monthly, and answer every review. Reviews are the heaviest lever — a steady drip of fresh, detailed reviews beats a big stale pile. Build the ask into your process: finish a job, send the link, same day.
Your city needs to appear where Google reads first: the title tag, the main heading, and naturally through the page — not stuffed. Every service you want to be found for deserves its own page, because one "Services" page can't rank for ten different searches. Add LocalBusiness schema so Google gets your name, area and phone number in its own language, and make sure the site is fast on a phone — slow mobile pages quietly lose rankings and customers at the same time.
Your name, address and phone should match exactly across Google, Yelp, Facebook and the directories in your trade. Mismatches read as doubt, and doubt costs position.
Weeks for the profile work to show, months for content to compound — which is exactly why it's worth starting this week. Want it done for you? It's built into every site I ship and every Growing plan. (847) 387-0244.
